Cherished Moments

Praising GodOne of the best things in my life, one of those truly cherished moments, are at the end of a really long and extremely challenging day because they always close with authentic praise.

In the morning I spend time telling the Lord about the day that is ahead of me, and how completely unprepared I am for it without Him going before me. Most of the time I don’t feel ready to tackle anything I am about to face. But that time with the Lord at the beginning of the day, the practice before the big game, that is the “tee up” that prepares me to be completely dependent on God to give me the strength and carry me through.

He continually reminds me that He was not only speaking to Joshua, but to me as well in these verses below:

Joshua 1:3 (NASB) “Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses.”

Joshua 1:5–6 (NASB) “No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous, for you shall give this people possession of the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.”

Joshua 1:9 (NASB) “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The reason I say that the end of these days are the moments I cherish the most is because I am always amazed, full of gratitude, and just so completely “kept” by His grace that I spend that time in awe, tears, and joy thanking Him for His love and faithfulness.

Who am I to have deserved this kind of life, this kind of walk with the King of kings, the Lord of lords, the everlasting Yahweh Nisi “The Lord my Banner”, the banner that declares the victory before the battle and overwhelmingly conquers. Our Lord is amazing, and I am so thankful that I have a testimony to share on a daily basis.

This is not an occasional occurrence, the Lord is faithful and He delivers again and again. What an encouraging and empowering thing it is to walk through a world that appears to be falling apart to most, but knowing you are perfectly positioned to allow God to show His love and might to not only you, but everyone around you. Praise His name! If my wife wasn’t asleep next to me I would be screaming that at the top of my lungs right now! (to put that in context it is 11:59 PM at the time of this writing :-).

I think it would be a good idea for you to now watch Casting Crown’s new lyric video for the song “Thrive” off their new album that has the same name. Consider what God has done for you, and if your having trouble how about the fact that you are fortunate enough to have internet and a computer to read this message as a start (many people will probably live their whole lives without being able to afford this). As you think about this, let your heart touch the psalmist’s who wrote:

Psalm 136:1–3 (NKJV)
Thanksgiving to God for His Enduring Mercy
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the God of gods!
For His mercy endures forever.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords!
For His mercy endures forever

His “mercy endures forever” praise His name and understand this the life we were meant to THRIVE!
